This female figure is based on the anthropomorthic ideal of water, earth and motherhood. Commisioned for a beliver in the culture of Goddesses this sculpture is a bronze cast figure. To tie in with the nature of ancient traditions it was cast using a Lost Wax or Roman Block method, which is one of the oldest ways of casting bronze. Another level of this sculpture was to link in the theme of water wich was the theme of the Goddess Conference which I attended in the summer of 2011, with the client and was the base insperation for this piece. I decided to make this link by using the natural contours and high points in the figure by leaving them exposed and untreated, as well as sanding them to create a rougth surface area. This surface will naturally oxidise creating a blue/green colour in a pattern that will resemble streams and rivers flowing over the figure.
